Week 9 saw Tantobie home and away. The first bowled Tantobie out for 25 runs, which we knocked off without loss. The seconds travelled up to Tantobie, batting first Rainton reached 243 for 8 off the 45 overs. After tea whcih saw three very free range chickens trying to enter the pavilion. After tea we dismissed Tantobie for 114 runs. Giving us the two necessary victories.

Unfortunately our free weekend, so no games this week. But Hunwick in a cup Tuesday night and Belmont at the Hazard on Thursday.
Both teams played Belmont this week. With the firsts at the Hazard and the seconds through at the red triangle.
Belmont batted first on a batsmens wicket at the Hazard. Achieving a total of 201 for 7 off the 45 overs with A Bush top scoring on 60. Will Orchin came out the top of the bowlers today with 3 for 38, Scott Taylor 1 for 42, Anthony Ashman 0 for 23, Chris Vallance 1 for 43 and Andrew Lormor 1 for 41. After tea (superb as always) Neil Matthews 63, Sachin Sharma 23, Michael Robbie 33, Chris Vallance 18, Will Orchin duck of the day, Anthony Ashman 11, Lee Henderson not out 14 and Andrew Lormor not out 18 giving us 202 for 6. Another twenty points and a great game against Belmont. However an exciting game was taking place 5 miles down the A690, where the seconds faced their counter parts from Belmont. Michael Williamson opened the batting reaching 98 before being given out LBW. New signing M Hussain batted superbly to achieve 116 before being caught. Colin Henderson 6, Connor Henderson 1, James Messer 0. Davy Noble playing his last game for the club before an operation (we wish him all the best and in his recovery!) scored 12, Graham Avent 0, Luke Armstrong 21, Glen Moody 7, Darren Portrey not out 9 and Derrick Steinberg 0 gave us a grand total 293 all out a great score and the highest the club has seen this year. After another great Belmont tea, the lads set to work defending the total. This we achieved greatly bowling Belmont out for 87. Giving us a 206 run victory. J Ricketts top scoring with 21. On the bowling front Darren Portrey 4 for 33, Derrick Steinberg 1 for 21, Michael Williamson 2 for 9, Luke Armstrong 2 for 3, Connor Henderson 0 for 8 and Davy Noble 1 for 5 wrapped up the innings. Another good weekend... This Saturday both teams played Kimblesworth a set of hard games awaited us. The firsts travelled over the old great north road to Kimblesworth. Kimb batted first, with J Taylor 62 and K Kerr 68 both being of note as Kimblesworth achieved 219 for 7 by tea. The bowling was as follows:
Will Orchin 1 for 62 Scott Taylor 2 for 30 Chris Paton 1 for 45 Ian Kitching 2 for 23 Andrew Lormor 2 for 50 After tea Neill Matthews was lost early caught for 7, Sachin Sharma batted superbly for 58, Michael Robbie 40, Scott Taylor 0, Will Orchin 0, Lee Henderson 22, Andrew Lormor 6, Chris Paton 5, Anthony Ashman 31, Luke Richardson 0 and Ian Kitching not out 7. Leaving us 13 runs short on 206 all out. Our second loss of the season. The seconds fared much better beating Kimblesworth second eleven. Kimblesworth again batted first achieving 95 all out, D Punshon adding 64 of those. Our bowling was as follows: Darren Portrey 1 for 13 Saud Ahmed 0 for 24 Derrick Steinberg 5 for 30 Glenn Moody 3 for 7 Connor Henderson 1 for 4 In reply Michael Williamson achieved a wonderful 63 not out. Muhammad Hussain caught 11, Saud Ahmed caught 5 and Connor Henderson not out 14 saw us to victory. On Sunday the second team hosted Beamish. Rainton batted first achieving 138 all out. Michael Williamson 1, Sachin Sharma 26, Riley Blunt 28, David Armstrong 18, Colin Henderson 12, Connor Henderson 4, Lee Henderson 16, Glenn Moody 4, Luke Richardson 5 not out, Darren Portrey 16 and Derrick Steinberg 1. P Nair was the top bowler with 4 for 26. Beamish batting after tea, got off to a slow start with the tail end adding the majority of their runs. J Stafford 44 and A Weightman 23 not out saw them to 117 all out. The bowlers did well getting five ducks. Darren Portrey 2 for 10 Derrick Steinberg 5 for 13 Luke Richardson 0 for 13 Connor Henderson 2 for 26 Mike Williamson 1 for 34 Riley Blunt 0 for 16 Giving us a further twenty points.
