The first team travelled to Caley Hill cricket ground to take on Wearmouth. The home side were dismissed for 109 runs. F Mohammad top scoring with 26. Our bowling was as follows: Will Orchin 4 for 20, Ian Kitching 1 for 14, Chris Paton 3 for 36 and Chris Vallance 2 for 29. After tea Rainton set to the chase, Muhammad Hussain posted 25, Sachin Sharma 5, Michael Robbie not out 30 and Michael Williamson not out 41 to see us across the line. Another win lads well done.
The seconds were at home to the ten men of Wearmouth The Sunderland men reached 125 all out. With C Stores 33 and D Turnbull 31 being the top scorers. Our bowling was as follows, Luke Armstrong 3 for 19, Derrick Steinberg 3 for 19, Connor Henderson 0 for 26, Kieran Paton 1 for 11, Darren Portrey 2 for 21 and Geoff Colledge 0 for 29. In reply we got off to a great start with openers Tom Rennie 18 and Luke Armstrong 42 pushing us forward. Colin Henderson added a further 42. With Connor Henderson 6 not out and James Messer 12 not out seeing us over the line.
The visit of Simonside
The travelled through to Oakleigh gardens to face Simonside on a wet but rapidly drying wicket.
Batting first Rainton reached 224 for 7 off the 45 overs. New signing Zak Waite opened the batting with 25 runs to start his rainton tally, at the other end Sachin Sharma responded well with 22. Michael Robbie added 52 and Michael Williamson 67 to continue their impressive batting so far this season. Skipper Will Orchin was lsot for 2. Chis Vallance not out 14, Andy Lomor 14 and Lee Henderson not out 6 completed the batting line up. Top bowler for Sima was the evergreen Paul Thompson with 4 for 57. In reply Simonsid were all out for 55. With M Harvey top scoring on 20. The bowlers did well with special mention to Will Orchin 8 for 13, Scott Taylor 2 for 31 and Chris Paton 0 for 8 seeing us over the line.
The seconds were also successful against Sima at home. Batting first Rainton achieved 204 all out with three overs left of the 40. Neil Matthews 4 (hit wicket) wasnt the best start however his opening partner Muhammad Hussain's 111 did make up for this. Colin Henderson 3, Tom Rennie 0 and Alan Maskell 0 saw us have a nervy section in the middle order. However Connor Henderson 29, Anthony Ashman 6, Graham Avent 0, Luke Armstorng 25, Darren Portrey 4 and Derrick Steinberg 3 not out saw us to tea. The top bowler was D Maddison 4 for 48 and R Henderson 4 for 28.
After a nice tea (with watermelon!) Simosnide struggled eventually being all out for 109. Top scoerers were M Chowla 29 and J Mollett 21. The bowlers were:
