It wasn’t such a good day for the seconds, as they were defeated by 204 runs by Kibblesworth. It seems like revenge after we bowled them out for 21 earlier in the season. Bating first Kibblesworth made 290 for 7 declared, with Glenn Moody 1 for 80, Scott Gillan 1 for 60, Rachel Petherick 2 for 50, Kieran Burrell 2 for 65 and Adam Bell 0 for 90. After tea we were all out for 86. Steve Hutchinson caught for 3, Adam Thwaites bowled for 1, Scott Gillan top scored with 21, Roy Hardwick caught for 0, Rachel Petherick caught 0, Colin Henderson caught for 9, Grant Wilson caught 13, Kieran Burrell not out 17, Glenn Moody caught 13, Adam Bell bowled 2 and Michael Petherick caught for 1. A bad day at the office, you can’t win them all.
In an unusual turn of events, the firsts completed a surprise defeat over Seaham Harbour. We lost the toss and bowled first, we bowled out Seaham for 87 runs. Our bowlers preformed well, with Chris Valance 2 for 20, Scott Taylor 2 for 29, Kristian Jefferson 2 for 15 and burglar Derrick Steinberg 4 for 22. In reply we got off for a good start with Neil Matthews 28 and Kristian Jefferson 12, a mid order collapse saw us almost snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. With Tom Rennie, Luke Richardson and Stuart Archbold all collecting ducks. Bob Batie steadied the innings, by adding 21, but wickets continued to fall at the other end, with Connor Henderson 1, Jack Holding 2, and Chris Valance 2. Scott Taylor (7) and Derrick Steinberg (0) both ended not out as the pull us over the line. Well done lads.
