The second team gained twenty points without bowling a ball, as Beamish seconds conceded.
On Sunday however the seconds travelled to South Hetton to contest the final of the Johnson - Coates cup. Batting first Rainton reached 179 for 7. Colin Henderson added 5, Davy Noble 20, Tom Rennie 22, Ralph Richardson 55 not out, James Messer 1, Scott Taylor 12, Darren Portrey (without his slippers) 31, Glenn Moody 0 and Ian Kitching 8 not out. With Adam Bell and Richard Harrison not having to bat.
After tea the rain began to fall during the Hunwick innings, however the rain cleared until the last over of the match. Hunwick matched the run rate well, however after the loss of B Jones for 43 runs became harder to come by. The game finished in the rain with Hunwick making 138 for 9, despite two dogs getting on the pitch. The bowling figures were: Scott Taylor 1 for 23, Ian Kitching 2 for 16, Darren Portrey 2 for 33, Richard Harrison 1 for 35, Glenn Moody 0 for 19 and James Messer 3 for 6 (including a brilliant caught and bowled). The man of the match was Ralph Richardson for his 55 not out and 1 victim behind the stumps.
Well done lads, commiserations to Hunwick. And thank you to South Hetton CC for holding the final.
