The tail end of the batting order had bags of experience and contributed greatly to the total, chairman Graham Avent was caught for 19, Michael Petherick was not out for 18, whilst Ian Kitching was caught for 16. Ian Kitching took 2 for 30, Sunni Khan 1 for 26, Adam Thwaites 0 for 37 and Roy Hardwick 0 for 29. so it was a 7 wicket victory for Simonside. So it wasnt a bad weekend. so roll on next week.
The firsts completed a brilliant win this week at home to a strong Kimblesworth first team. Batting first Rainton were reduced to 99 all out. Neil Matthews was caught early for 4, opening partner Bob Batie however added 20 before being bowled. Scott Gillan added 3 whilst Luke Richardson was quickly caught for 0. Lee Henderson was also caught for 9. Michael Robbie then commenced the fight back posting 21 before being given out LBW. This left Connor Hnederson 7, Tom Rennie 0, Chis Vallance 11, Scott Taylor 11 and Derrick Steinberg 1 not out to complete the innings. D Showler took 6 for 25 for Kimblesworth. After tea Kimblesworth were bowled out for 73. S Emmerson got them off to a good start with 17, however a middle order collapse led to D Card adding 22 from the tail, but it wasnt quite enough. Chis Valance took 2 for 12, Scott Taylor 4 for 25, Connor Henderson 2 for 12 and Derrick Steinberg 2 for 18. This moved us back up to 4th in table, only 15 points behind the leaders.
