The North East's first eco friendly cricket club 🏏
Here at East Rainton CC we are setting out to become the North East first eco friendly cricket club. We have signed up to the Carbon Centurions, a project to create eco friendly and carbon neutral cricket clubs all over the UK.
What we've done so far:
What we've done so far:
- Planted 480 trees 🌳 at our Hazard ground thanks to the Woodland Trust.
- Maintaining the medieval Hawthorn hedgerow at club and developing another new hedge.
- Re-wilding two areas around the pitch.
- Creating a bee friendly garden area.
- Club is already off grid - so uses no electric.
- Car sharing to matches to reduce emissions.
- Rain water storage for watering pitches.
- Recycling ♻️ of the clubs waste, with cardboard, glass and plastic all now recycled.
- Measuring our carbon output and working with carbon centurions to off set any carbon we can't reduce.
- 2022 purchase of first electric mower for cutting of the square and strips.
- Installation of solar panels, providing the club with 100% carbon neutral electric 🔌⚡️💡♻️
