How did we get on, the first team had a brilliant season. With the firsts playing 8 games, winning 5 and losing 3. Including a 20 wicket win over Seaham Park. Of the three lost matches the game versus Littletown was lost by just 3 wickets and versus Bill Quay by just 11 runs. We were however soundly beaten by 5 wickets by Wearmouth. This gave us a third placed finish, just missing out on a semi final place. Neil Matthews came 11th for runs scored in the Division with 141 to his name, closely followed by Lee Henderson on 124. 4 ERCC bowlers made the top twenty, in 4th place was Derrick Steinberg with 15 wickets (including 5 for 15 at South Hetton), Chris Valance 13, Kieran Hill 11 and James Messer 9. Luke Richardson also took 10 victims behind the stumps and Connor Henderson 6 catches.
The seconds were last seasons NEDCL division champs, this season however proved more of a struggle. Despite a close 1 wickets win at Silksworth and a 83 run victory over Murton, it wasn’t enough to stop us finishing second bottom, against strong opposition, such as the 83 run defeat by NEDCL rivals Simonside. For the seconds Ben Mummery finished 10th in the league batting scoring 115 runs, Kieran Burrell 105 and Rachel Petherick 102 were of note. Kieran Burrell also topped the division wicket takers with 17 to his name, whilst Scott Gillan took 9.
The first team have hit the ground running and will look to push on in 2021, the seconds need some reinforcements. However seconds especially suffered an irregular side. Which can hopefully be amended next year.
We don't know yet, if a Prestatyn night etc can be held this year yet. So watch this space!
