Sadly big loss for the first team this week, by 137 runs. Jack won the toss and put Beamish into bat, reaching 277 for 5, with T Bolam 78, I Kirtley 54 and J Selsey 66 not out. Our bowling was Chris Valance 0 for 47, Jordan Bell 2 for 26, Gavin Snowball 2 for 55, Derrick Steinberg 1 for 57, Manav Seth 0 for 44 and Conor Henderson 0 for 40. In reply we reached 140 not out, with G Craig taking 5 for 15, Gav Snowball 23 not out (including a retired hurt), Ben Sim 27, Lee Henderson 5, Luke Richardson 1, Conor Henderson 0, Jamie Parkinson 6, Jack Blake 18, Manav Seth 0, Jordan Bell 12, Chris Valance 0 and Derrick Steinberg 4. The Rockets played their first ever home fixture against Durham City CC. Sadly it was another loss, but this time by just 17 runs. With the Rockets scoring 42. The seconds had no game this weekend due to football. So the lads made the short travel to Littletown in a local derby. We batted first with Neil Matthews adding 44, Ben Storey 4, Luke Richardson 12, Conor Henderson 9, Stuart Archbold 0, Jamie Parkinson 24, Kieran Hill 0, Chris Vallance 0, Manav Seth 32, James Messer 9 and Derrick Steinberg 1 not out. Making 152 all out. In reply the home side were pegged back well at 88 for 5. But passed the total with 5 down. Chris Valance 0 for 29, Kieran Hill 0 for 35, Derrick Steinberg 3 for 24, Manav Seth 2 for 34, James Messer 0 for 15 and Conor Henderson 0 for 15. Onwards and upwards from here.
On Saturday the first team hosted Wearmouth, who sat top of Division 3 going into the game.
Skipper Lee won the toss and put the visitors into bat. They reached a total of 97 all out. Chris Valance took 4 for 27, Kieran Hill 0 for 21, Ben Foster on his first team debut 3 for 28, Glen Moody 3 for 16. A good day with the ball but vould we back it with the bat? Ben Storey 12 and Alan Maskell 17 got us off to a good start. Lee Henderson returned to his form of last year adding 47 not out, Luke Richardson 0 and Conor Henderson 14 not out saw us home over tough opposition. Its going to be a close Division this year! The seconds returned to action on Sunday as they hosted Peterlee at the Hazard. Rainton batted first making 141 for 7 off the 40 overs with J Garraghans quick bowling proving difficult to handle. Neil Matthews 4, Phil Nathan 2, Scott Gillan 2, didn't see us off to the best start. Ben Sims arrived at the crease adding 48 not out. He was supported at the other end by, Stuart Archnold 23, James Messer 0, Rachel Petherick 5, Jon Arnold 17 and Ralph Richardson 9 not out. After the tea interval, Peterlee looked to have the game won, reaching 100 for 3, however a middle and tail collapse saw them bowled out for 119, despite the best efforts of K Winter on 66. Jon Arnold opened the bowling with 0 for 25, James Messer took 4 for 22, Rachel Petherick 1 for 17, David Wales 0 for 30, Scott Gillan 0 for 3 and the first fivefor of the season goes to skipper Kieran Burrell who took 5 for 15. The first team travelled to Silksworth, looking to build on the victory over Marsden. Sadly it was not to be.

Connor Hebderson added 38 to steady tye ship, Jamie Parkinson 4, Jack Blake 0, Kieran Hill added before Jordan Bell, Chris Valance and Derrick Steinberg added 0 for the tail. A total of 104 to defend, a tough one for the bowlers. Silky passed the total with 4 wickets to spare, giving them a first win of the season. Chris Valance 2 for 19, Kieran Hill 0 for 8, Pottsy 2 for 17, Gav Snowball 1 for 18, Conor Henderson 0 for 13, Ben Storey 0 for 11 and Derrick Steinberg 1 for 17. The club entered week 2 and it was a long weekend, with 5 games and for the the first time in the clubs 173 year history, we put three teams into the field.
Saturday 1st XI vs Horden The first team travelled to Horden, looking to build on last weeks win. Catches win matches is an old saying, but applies very much to this game. Horden opener A Dixon was dropped early on and went on to add 103 of the home sides total of 241 for 6. Chris Vallance 2 for 62, Kieran Hill 0 for 47, Noah Worthy 1 for 28, Jordan Bell 0 for 23, Derrick Steinberg 3 for 33 and Gavin Snowball 0 for 48. After tea we reached 203 for 8 off the 45 overs , Conor Henderson 1, Ben Storey 18, Lee Hebderson 12, Luke Richardson 21, Gavin Snowball 8, Noah Worthy 23, Jack Blake 47, Jordan Bell 15, Kieran Hill 20 not out, Chris Vallance 6 not out. Sadly 38 runs short. Saturday 2nd XI vs Murton The secons hosted Murton hopin to bounce back from last weeks defeat. We batted first making 165 for 8. Neil Matthews 48 and Phil Nathan 29 got us off to a good start, Alan Maskell 6, Jamie Parkinson 1, James Messer 36, Scott Gillan 5, Rachel Petherick 2, Kieran Burrell 22 not out, Grant Wilson 1 and David Wales 4 not out. In reply the visitors were pegged back to 102 for 9, thanks to the efforts of Ven Foster who took 4 for 17, James Messer 1 for 22, David Wales 0 fir 10, Rachel Petherick 2 for 26 and Kieran Burrell 2 for 19. Sunday Rainton Rockets U9's vs Littletown Our under 9s took to the field in theur first ever game away at Littletown. Sadly it wasn't a win, but all the players enjoyed themselves. The hosts posted 142, we reached 73. Our first junior team was: Jake Wilson Jackson Cooper Xander Riding Lily Naunton Noah Cox William Wright Henry Wright Ethan Wake Ellie May Warren Issac Hill Monday 1st XI vs Marsden The first team hosted table topping Marsden and came out the right side of a 7 run victory. We batted first making 186 for 9, Conor Henderson 0, Ben Storey 0, Lee Henderson 10, Luke Richardson 88, Gavin Snowball 1, Noah Worthy 6, Jamie Parkinson 7, Jack Blake 36, Kieran Hill 3, Jordan Bell 1 not out and Chris Valance 0 not out. In reply the visitors were pegged back to 179 for 8 despite 45 from S Crews. Chris Valance took 2 for 31, Kieran Hill 0 for 42, Gavin Snowball 1 for 15, Jordan Bell 2 for 24, Noah Worthy 2 for 45 and Jack Blake 0 for 21. Monday 2nd XI vs Kimblesworth The second team travelled to Kimblesworth, the home side made 176 for 8. With Ben Foster taking 0 for 35, Derrick Steinberg 1 for 26, David Wales 0 for 36, Kieran Burrell 3 for 34 and Rachel Petherick 3 for 33. In reply we reached 122 for 8 off the 40 overs. Sadly a 54 run defeat.
