Both teams played Wearmouth this week. The firsts traveled through to Carley Hill in Sunderland, upon arrival the home side batted first Wear were bowled out for 88 with A Bewick top scoring on 36. The bowling was as follows, Will Orchin 1 for 19, Ian Kitching 1 for 31, Derrick Steinberg 2 for 16 and special mention to Chris Patton with 6 for 17 against his old club. With the bat some of Raintons old confidence had returned, Colin Henderson was lost early bowled for 7, Chis Patton bowled for 2 and Lee Henderson not out 7, finally Alan Maskell was unbeaten on 65 of which 58 came from boundaries. With A Bewick 2 for 9 was the top of the bowling. So this gave us a victory by 8 wickets.
The seconds also beat Wearmouth, but made it slightly harder work of it. Wearmouth seconds also batted first, achieving 82 all out, with the top scorer being A Lowes on 21. The bowlers did well Varrun Vaddaboima 0 for 31, Connor Henderson 0 for 17, Glenn Moody 2 for 4 and Luke Armstrong 2 for 7, but the top bowler being Darren Portrey with 6 for 20. With the bat however Rainton suffered a bit of a collapse, Neil Matthews 5, Sachin Sharma 23, Mike Williamson 2, Tom Rennie 6, Connor Henderson (not out) 13, Geoff Colledge 3, Graham Avent (unluckily caught out for a fielders shin) 0, Glenn Moody 0 and finally superstar captain Darren Portrey 22 not out to see us over the line. With R McLoughlin 3 for 7 being the pick of the Wearmouth bowlers.
