On Saturday the first team went into a crunch match with South Shields, a win for Rainton would secure promotion. Whilst a win for shields would save them from relegation. As it was they ran out winners by 35 runs - congratulations to Wearmouth & YAV & Champions Murton on promotion.
Batting first shields made 171 for 9, Scott Taylor took 2 for 47, Ben Foster 2 for 25, Derrick Steinberg 0 for 36, Rachael Petherick 3 for 8, Kieran Burrell 0 for 30 and Conor Henderson 1 for 22. Sadly we were bowled out for 136. Jamie Parkinson 29, Ben Sims 10, Luke Richardson 23, Lee Henderson 20, Conor Henderson 9, Jack Blake 5, Kieran Burrell 0, Scott Taylor 16, Ben Foster 13, Rachael Petherick 1 and Derrick Steinberg 1 not out. Leaving us with a third place finish.
On Sunday the Ladies travelled to Beamish for the final festival of the season. We lost our first game to Castle Eden by 10 runs. But had the upper hand in the game versus Beamish, when a monsoon arrived (see left) leaving the rest of the festival cancelled! Also on Sunday we were proud to host the final of the Norman Martin trophy between Coundon & Boldon CA. Coundon ran out the winners, congratulations to them and Commiserations to Boldon CA. |
